We'll keep on going - Ferrari

Yes, we all know things didn't go according to plan for the guys at Ferrari this year, losing out by 4 points to the mighty Red Bull of Sebastian Vettel.

But, as always, nobody should look to the past, but the future instead. Or at least that's what Luca di Montezemolo believes in...

He says that his team will stay unchanged for next year, keeping both his drivers, which is foolish in my opinion. He says that consistency is key to winning, but that was true when they had a German superstar driving their car, not a Spanish loose cannon.

He believes that Felipe Massa will regain his form he displayed in 2008, but he forgets who Felipe's team mate is. A guy that passes him in the pitlane, almost causing an accident. And then forcing team orders on to Felipe just to take the win away from him.

This leads me to say a big thank you to Vitaly Petrov, and we all know why...

In my opinion, I'd say to get rid of Felipe, Luca. You need someone who fits into your framework of consistency and someone who will put that Spaniard on a leash. As Sebastian Vettel has Mark Webber who makes sure of it that when Seb makes a mistake, Mark takes the win, so does Fernando need someone who will punish him on his mistakes. And frankly, Felipe isn't the guy. He's been driving Ferrari for quite some time now and had one moment of glory in Brazil 2008, which lasted for a couple of seconds.

Ferrari is probably one of the best teams on the grid, and I'm sure most of the drivers would give up more than their mother-in-laws to drive for Ferrari, but a successful team isn't built on luck or reputation, but working together and giving their drivers equal support and opportunity. Take a look at Red Bull and McLaren. Why did they conquer the mighty Ferrari this year?

The answer is balance.

First of all, balance between the drivers. This includes Mercedes as well. You have the young hotshot driver, then you have the experienced one. Both can deliver their own unique inputs to the team and they learn from each other as well. Accidents do happen, but both the drivers will aim only to improve their positions, not aiming to be the first one in the pits or stealing a win from their team mate.
